Emma and Connor's Lake Placid wedding on 9/11/21 was one of the most glorious days of the year. Warm in the sun and cooler at night, perfect sunshine and just enough cloud cover to make our skies interesting on camera.... we love to see it.
Emma and Connor first reached out via Instagram, knowing they wanted to book with me but just finalizing final details. We quickly hit it off and scheduled their VIC engagement session - it was such a treat to get to work with two people who are even more obsessed with the Lake Placid area than I am.
This gorgeous wedding day's decor featured all of the trappings of a rustic Adirondack wedding - from the gorgeous signage featuring ADK trees and mountains, the open-air tent, the wooden plates and sawed-tree-trunk centerpiece platforms, all the way to the beer-filled canoe, this day truly had it all. And don't even get me started on our COUPLE from this day.
Emma and Connor are sweet. That's the first word that comes to mind for me; sweet to each other, sweet to their family and friends, VERY sweet to their puppies - little Sawyer and Odin, and SWEET TO LOOK AT AM I RIGHT!? Okay, that last one was cheesy, but look at how gorgeous our bride & groom are!! Emma and Connor could be cover models for Bridal Vogue!
We started off our days with intimate getting ready photos of the girls and guys separately, and then straight to the venue for the ceremony. Typically, non-first-look weddings tend to go hand-in-hand with church ceremonies, so I thought it was very cool that these two opted to skip the first look and have that grand entrance down the aisle moment where Connor could see Emma (and Sawyer) for the first time along with all of their guests. After a really lovely ceremony (I cannot get over this scenery, or the colors!), we took care of all of our formal photos, then let our couple frolic to the end of cocktail hour and start their reception festivities.
There is always a very special feeling of emotion coming from the guests at weddings, and on this day, the excitement and eagerness to see these two wed was palpable. I could tell that Emma and Connor have a really tight-knit support system of an adoring family and incredible friends - and I could also tell that they treat their friends as though they are family. I really, really love to see the way a couple is loved by their crew, and Emma and Connor are adored.
At the end of the day, this wedding was hard to leave. I loved working with these two so much, and documenting every moment was an absolute honor - from Emma putting on the wedding dress to the 10pm screaming rendition of All the Small Things by Blink-182 as the DJ pumped artificial fog onto the dance floor.
Emma and Connor - thank you so much for having me at your wedding and trusting me as your photographer. Cheers to endless years of happiness and Soy-boy appreciation.
<3 Hannah
