Congratulations to Elizabeth & Jason, who tied the knot on a beautiful weekend in June 2022 with a three-day wedding extravaganza!
You may recognize these two from their Sagamore Resort proposal in 2020 - I had the absolute honor of working with them again on their wedding, which was such a treat <3
The plan for the weekend was a combination of Indian and American Catholic wedding traditions to celebrate our couple - the first two days would be spent in Jersey City capturing the Sikh wedding events at various locations culminating in a reception at Liberty House, and the third day would be spent at a Catholic church ceremony, followed by a reception at the Loeb Boathouse in Manhattan.
My team and I left on a Thursday to photograph the Sangeet in Jersey City - which would be the first of 3 nights we would spend with this lovely crowd. We started at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City, which is a very pretty hotel on a pier with a gorgeous view of the NYC skyline just behind it. We took some portraits as we meandered towards Amiya - the (very delicious) restaurant which would host the Sangeet. This was a great chance for the families of our bride and groom to dance, mingle, and celebrate before the big day(s) to come.
The next day, we were up bright and early and back at the Hyatt with getting ready shots of Elizabeth and Jason, and all of their details. To follow, we headed back towards that skyline for the first look and some family photos. After that, we set off straight to the gurudwara about 40 minutes away for the ceremony. We started off with the Baraat down the long parking lot while Elizabeth watched from the windows inside the building, and then we proceeded with the ceremony and sent our couple off after lunch.
After that, a quick outfit change and we were off to Liberty House for the first of two gorgeous receptions. We soaked in the golden hour as it reflected off of Elizabeth’s stunning red outfit and Jason’s sharp black and gold details, took some more family photos (because everyone changed outfits, the scenery was stellar, and also, why not!?), and then headed inside Liberty House for the reception featuring heartfelt speeches from those nearest and dearest to the couple, a cake cutting, dinner, dancing, and some beautiful parting night shots before everyone headed into the city.
This one deserves multiple blogs (so many places! so many looks! SO many pictures!), so stay tuned for a post next week that will break down Day III of Elizabeth & Jason’s wedding weekend <3 I hope you enjoy the photographs from this extremely special event!
