I wanted to wait until the summertime to blog about this incredible August 2020 micro wedding, because I had a feeling that the ice cream photos would evoke some emotions in all of us.
You probably remember Amanda & Simon's chilly engagement session at Thatcher Park? Amanda was my classmate and fellow Girl Scout all throughout Elementary, Middle, and Highschool - it was such an enormous honor when Amanda and Simon got engaged and reached out to me to document this precious time in their lives.
We started out the day at The Renaissance in Albany which is just such a pretty hotel! After details and getting ready shots, we headed over to the site of the ceremony and reception - Amanda's parent's house! I know that the year 2020 changed many plans on people, but I will say that micro-weddings felt so intimate and just so special. This one was no different - underneath a beautifully crafted chuppah, Amanda and Simon tied the knot for all their guests (even the ones on Zoom!) to see, and then followed their ceremony with family photos, toasts, some really cute first dances (Amanda and Simon are VERY good dancers!!!!), and then cake and portraits.
This brings me to a very important point that I must talk about: Amanda's parents, in keeping with family / neighborhood traditions, hired an ice cream truck to come and serve dessert to their guests. And not just any old ice cream truck, but the EMACK AND BOLIO TRUCK. I WAS STARSTRUCK. Can you tell I'm hungry writing this? It's fine. It was just such a cute, different, amazing little treat for all to enjoy, and I really thought it made Amanda and Simon's wedding, well, Amanda and Simon's wedding!
Amanda, I can't say it enough - thank you for trusting me with the duty of immortalizing these memories for you and Simon. Your vows moved me, and your love for each other is a joy to behold. I am very fond of you both and hope that you are having the best newlywed year ever <3
LOVE & SPOONS,
HL
